Mesa Boogie Triaxis

The prince of all tube preamps. Mesa themselves talk of the workings inside as a 'black art'. After some years of practice and with the help of the guys in Petaluma I have managed to lift the lid off the black box and view a few of the secrets. There are a number of LDRs (Light dependent resistors) inside that are controlled by the digital processing. Each one has an adjustable setting (like a power amp bias setting). Over time the LDRs drift in spec a little which affects the tone of the preamp. There is a procedure that I carry out to tune these tone/drive components back into factory spec alignment. Sonic heaven.
